Post Description
Just Blues album by Sonny Rhodes was released Apr 12, 1995 on the Evidence label. On Just Blues, Sonny Rhodes delivers danceable soul blues featuring punchy horns and strong vocals, but not nearly enough of his lap steel guitar playing. Just Blues songs Rhodes' lap steel playing is grittiest on "Please Me." A number of covers are included: "The Things I Used to Do," "Strange Things Happening," and "It Hurts Me Too." You get the impression if this session would have been recorded live in front of an audience, the end results would have been much different. Just Blues is enjoyable, but non-essential. ~ Al Campbell Recorded in 1985.
