Desdemona tart haar vader, door met de Moor van Venetië te trouwen, de machtige strijder Othello. Maar de oude luitenant van Othello, Iago, heeft een hekel aan Othello en probeert hem kapot te maken. Hij probeert om de nieuwe oogappel van Othello, Cassio, kapot te maken. Ondertussen zal hij naast de carriere van Othello, ook diens normale leven kapot maken. Dit probeert hij te bewerkstelligen door Othello te vertellen dat zijn nieuwe vrouw hem ontrouw is geweest.
