Dr. Lawrence Gordon en Adam, twee mannen die elkaar nooit eerder hebben gezien, ontwaken vastgebonden in een smerige, oude badkamer. Tussen hen in ligt het levenloze lichaam van een man met een revolver in zijn handen en een taperecorder. Als Adam en Lawrence dan met behulp van de taperecorder een bandje afluisteren, ontdekken ze dat ze de nieuwste slachtoffers zijn in één van de zieke spelletjes van een beruchte seriemoordenaar, die luistert naar de bijnaam 'Jigsaw'.
