Istoria Podlodki U-69
aka "The laughing Cow" or the history of U 69

The laughing Cow" or the history of U 69. Written by Jost Metzler the former captain of the U 69 and later U 847. It comes from the series of books called Fortunes of War. 

It is a first hand report on how a crew of a submarine lives and works together. Starts with the maiden voyage till he leaves the boat and everything in between. The crewmembers struggle with themselves in the beginning, with the conditions on the Atlantic and with the enemy above them. Till they become a team. 

The book also explains how and why the U 69 got the emblem with the laughing cow or La Vache Qui Rit, the famous French Cheese logo that we all know. 

I think it is a very interesting book to read even if you are not 100% into submarines like I am. And there is no "political content" so it is not about good or bad but just about people going through a rough phase in their lives. Interesting material!
