Review:
I bought this LP record of Alex's when it was released in the 80's. I just located the CD on Amazon.com and added it to my Wish List. This guy is an excellent musician. We were both born and raised in Windsor, Ontario and I came across Alex perfecting his craft when he and his band played in the back room of a small downtown Windsor club (the old Radio Tavern) in the late 70's. His history, as I understand it, is that he played guitar in a moderately sucessful touring rock band playing eastern Canada and the Northeast US in the late 60's and 70's. While resting up at home, he bought a flute, and the rest is history. As a person who appreciates this form of music, I know that Alex has played and made some important music. He is also an accomplished classical flautist, having played with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, across the border in Detroit, Mighigan. He had been a regular at Baker's Keyboard Lounge (Anita Baker's old stompin' grounds) in Detroit. He has played with jazz greats like Bob James and also Earl Klugh, who appears on this album. Alex is currently the morning DJ at WVMV, Smooth Jazz, in Detroit. This is a quality, easy listening jazz album, and a wonderful addition to any collection.
