The Kinks was een Engelse rockgroep ontstaan in 1963 met singer-songwriter Ray Davies, zijn broer leadgitarist en zanger Dave Davies en bassist Pete Quaife. De nummers uit hun beginperiode waren toonaangevend voor de rock-'n-roll in het midden van de jaren '60 en albums zoals Face to Face, Something Else, Village Green, Arthur en Muswell Hillbillies staan dan ook hoog aangeschreven bij fans en muziekcritici
