Australia's Got Talent returned to Seven at 7.30pm, Tuesday 3 May 2011, again with 90 minute episodes.
 
Auditions for Series 5 of Australia's Got Talent began late 2010, holding auditions around the major cities in Australia. The judging panel then visited Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast and Perth for televised auditions in theatres, each with a full house of approximately 10,000 people viewing each session.
 
Dannii, Kyle and Brian returned to judge the series, which was also hosted by Grant Denyer. In terms of production, this year, they omitted the extended opening titles used around the world, and just displayed the logo before moving on. The opening episode rated well, coming 2nd with 1,563,000 viewers - only 30,000 viewers less than ratings juggernaut MasterChef.
