The Southern Reach Trilogy is a series of novels by the American author Jeff VanderMeer first published in 2014—Annihilation, Authority, and Acceptance. The trilogy takes its name from the secret agency that is central to the plot. In 2013, it was announced that Paramount Pictures had bought the movie rights for the series,[1] with a film adaptation of Annihilation proceeding with writer-director Alex Garland.[2] The film was released in 2018.
