Jerry Lee Lewis - 1989 - Rockin' My Life Away



Like his other Tomato CDs, Heartbreak and Rocket 88, Rockin' My Life Away documents Jerry Lee Lewis' hot-blooded performances at his preferred venue in L.A., the Palomino. Much of the material is the same. Excelling as both a rockabilly dynamo and a honky-tonk hero, the Killer sounds as inspired on "Great Balls of Fire," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Meat Man" as he does on country classics like "What Made Milwaukee Famous," "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "I Can't Stop Lovin' You." In fact, Lewis still sounds like he's very much in his prime. For more casual listeners, Rockin' My Life Away would be as strong a choice as Rocket 88. And for completists, hearing even more versions of these songs will be a treat.
