The Horseshoe Curve is situated near the town of Altoona in Pennsylvania and has echoed to the thunder of heavy freight trains ever since its completion in 1854. It offers the spectacle for railroad engineers - and lucky passengers - of being able to watch the rear of their train making its way along one side of the curve as the locomotives lead the train up the other side, the middle of the train running around the tight 637-foot radius curve at the top of the lake.

The Horseshoe Curve for Train Simulator 2012 recreates not only the famous curve, but also the 45-mile stretch from Altoona to Johnstown as it appeared in the mid-1950s. Complete with appropriate PRR locomotives and rolling stock, the Horseshoe Curve also includes scenarios in which unexpected events unfold and allow the player to unlock more missions and rise through the ranks of their fellow engineers. Start off switching in Altoona Yard and progress to driving passenger trains on the main line, and if you do well enough you will be asked to drive the Centenary train!

Ingebouwde tutorials helpen je aan de besturing en rijtechnieken te wennen. De Cab Control-interface maakt het makkelijk voor beginners om direct te gaan rijden, in tegenstelling tot de expertmodus, waarin je rijdt door middel van het nauwkeurig besturen van de locomotief. Adembenemende scenario's laten je tot het uiterste gaan; je kunt zelfs je score uploaden naar de wereldwijde Steam-leaderboards.

Met meer dan 70 speelbare scenario's, biedt Train Simulator 2012 uren aan rijplezier. Bestuur een klassieke General Motors F7-diesellocomotief en rijd door de uitputtende hitte van de woestijn van Californië, of ervaar hoge snelheden in de cabine van de fantastische Hitachi Super Express. Bestuur een BR101 met een vrachttrein door de Duitse Alpen, of vervoer op je gemak vee bij Evercreech Junction met een Black 5-stoomlocomotief. Installatie:
. Na het binnen halen  opzoeken met je virtuele driver
. Offline gaan, schakel je modem en virusscanner uit
. Installeren naar de dir van jou keuze
. Alles in de map SKIDROW kopieren BEHALVE steam_api.dll
. Installeer alle toepassingen zoals directx, physx, ect
. Kijk of het icoontje RAILWORKS werkt, zo niet kopieer hem dan uit de map
. Verwijderd de map STEAM uit PROGRAMDATA
