Those who subscribe to the notion that only age and a lifetime of hardships can produce a blues musician have probably never heard Ty Curtis play guitar, sing, or listened to the powerful lyrics of just one of his songs. Ty being one of Oregon's youngest blues musicians, has already released five award winning CDs at the age of 28. Greg Johnson, the president of Cascade Blues Association, could not agree more “Ty's lyrics and music show growth and these tunes shouldn't just appeal to the blues crowd, Ty's fully capable of crossing over for any audience that is put in front of him".

Ty was just out of High School in 2006, when he recorded and released his first album, 'Stubborn Mind'. Featuring passionate vocals and driving guitar, a hallmark of the band, this CD presented a depth of feeling and sound that was way beyond his age."Stubborn Mind" was also nominated in 2006 for Best Self Produced CD by the Cascade Blues Association. In 2008 Ty released his second album, 'Down On My Luck', which was selected to represent the Cascade Blues Association in the International Blues Competition for 2009. Ty and his band ended up taking 2nd place in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Blues Challenge panelist and Grammy award winning producer David Z (Prince, Etta James, Jonny Lang) took a special interest in the band, which lead to his work as producer/engineer on Ty's much anticipated third album, 'Cross That Line'. This 2010 album climbed the charts on hundreds of radio stations throughout North America, Europe, Australia and South America. 'Fools Game' and 'What He Don't Know' are just two of multiple tracks still receiving national airplay.

Ty continued to work hard and tour around the northwest for the next two years. In 2011 Ty's long time friend and current Steve Miller Band Guitarist, Jacob Petersen, had the great idea to have Ty come down to Austin, Texas to make the next CD. So in the spring of 2012 Ty made the trip to Austin and recorded his self titled album 'Ty Curtis' in just 5 days. The album does a great job of varying acoustic and electric styles appropriately complimenting the mood for each track. This CD takes you places with the stellar musicianship demonstrated by the impeccable team of musicians that play on it. As Pete Francis from Blues Rock Review stated “Ty Curtis is a triple threat, since he is the band's lead singer, as well as the primary composer of their material, and thirdly he's a sonically incendiary, string-shredding electric guitar player." With the last four albums receiving praise from all over the country, Ty decided it was time to move to Austin and make his fifth album “Water Under The Bridge" which was recorded at Ramble Creek studios and produced once again by Jacob Petersen. “Water Under The Bridge" continues the songwriting and musical path that his previous release, “Ty Curtis", began to take us down but it also takes a turn-around to his original bluesy roots. Solid lyrics, sizzling guitar and blues rock patterns which make for an award winning formula on this latest album. "Water Under The Bridge' has been well received, earning him a place at #14 on Blues Rock Reviews Top 20 Blues Albums of 2014 as well as being played on radio stations worldwide.

What conveys so strongly on recordings translates magnificently in live performance. Backed by his longtime drummer, Jerry Jacques,(Tracy Chapman, Five Guys Named Moe) and award-winning veteran bassist, David Kahl (Paul deLay, Lloyd Jones, Pinetop Perkins, Duffy Bishop), a powerful, driving unit establishes a base that compels both dancers and listeners. Ty has demonstrated that not only could he draw from the rich blues tradition, but he could also learn to spread his creative wings in new directions with a sense of self-awareness rare in adults, let alone one so young. “Ty Curtis and his fellow musicians bring us tight sounds as if they have been playing together for decades on many podiums with their combination of power blues & funk! “Roots Time, Belgian Blues Magazine".

Ty has been featured on festival stages and in larger capacity clubs, where exuberant response is not limited to just the audience. World renowned artists have come away extremely impressed, and Ty has shared the stage with many of them. He has repeatedly packed and sold-out venues throughout the Pacific Northwest and delivers a knock out, high energy packed show every time. As the late great Paul Delay put it “Ty plays it like a young man should, straight ahead and from the heart".
