Synopsis:

Martial arts master Hung Hey-kwun and his equally adept seven-year-old son, Hung Man-ting, fight for the rebellious Heaven and Earth Society in their battle against the tyrannical government. Hung is charged with protecting five young Shaolin students, who have portions of a treasure map tattooed on their backs. When the map is assembled, it reveals the location of a great cache of gold, which H & E needs to finance their efforts. While working as a bodyguard for a rather thick rich man, Hung and son must contend with "The Notorious Mother and Daughter," conniving thieves who use their wiles and kung fu skills to fleece unsuspecting men. However, their greatest threat is Hey-kwun's old enemy, Ma Ling-yee, now a mutated and seemingly invincible madman, who rides around in a silver, beetle-shaped "car"!
This film showcases Hung Hei-Kwun's exploits as a rebel against the Qing government. Unlike Li's Fong Sai Yuk movies, the film has a much darker tone. Hung (Li) hardly ever shows affection, even to his son, and speaks in the same tone throughout the movie. The same applies to his son, who mirrors the little boy from Lone Wolf and Cub from his hair to his facial expressions. This is one of two films in which Xie Miao and Jet Li play a father-son duo, the other being My Father Is A Hero.

Inhoud:

Als z'n vrouw en alle inwoners van het dorp op beestachtige wijze worden vermoord door Manchu terroristen, neemt meesterstrijder Kwun wraak met de enige overlevende van de slachting, zijn zoontje Ting. Zeven jaar lang weten ze het dodelijke leger voor te blijven. Dan komt Kwun vijf jonge Shaolin-meesters tegen die een gedetailleerde kaart op hun ruggen hebben getatoeerd. Deze kaart wijst de weg naar een onbetaalbare schat. Het duurt niet lang voor de Manchu hier achterkomt...
