Nintendo knows the power of its back catalog, and that power isn’t always used for good. (See: Nintendoland, a milquetoast minigame collection inspired by some of the very same games featured in Retro Remix.) So it's especially cool to see Nintendo get behind a project like NES Remix, which both honors classic games and rips them apart. It’s a clever and challenging way to experience the classics without just retreading old ground. The possibilities for expanding the Remix series are so unbelievably great, too.
