Shangri-La (2002) PAL DVD9 - Takashi Miike, Custom English Subtitles
========================================================

Plot:
Shangri-La (Kin'yu hametsu Nippon: Togenkyo no hito-bito) follows the lives of a group
of homeless people in Japan who run into a man who nearly commits suicide and decide
to help him out of his financial troubles. Using their various ingenious resources they
embark on a complex scheme to blackmail a crooked businessman, whose bankruptcy
claim has put people out of work. It's a fun romp as these seemingly homeless people
manage to outsmart the very people who cast them from society.

Original Uploader's (lordretsudo)Comments:
The Russian DVD was uploaded by aqr1278. I stripped the Russian overdub audio track and some unrelated
Russian extras, and added custom English subtitles. I ripped these from a rare screener provided by ADC's
screener king, Ikeda69. The film was only ever screened at a couple of festivals with subtitles, so a big thanks
to him!

Enjoy this rare 'missing' Miike, from a time when he still made good films (i.e. pre-2004). His more recent films
have not been to my taste at all, but this is a nice reminder of those short few years when Miike was the most
exciting, unpredictable (and prolific) director on the planet. Plus, there's Sho Aikawa in an afro wig and shades.
