The late, great Nina Simone recorded for a lot of labels, but some of her best-and hardest-to-find-work was during the mid-'60s for the Philips label, where she continued to hone her unique fusion of jazz, blues and folk with a nod to the soul music that was in the air at the time. This beautiful 4-CD set takes all seven albums she recorded for Philips- Broadway/Blues/Ballads, I Put a Spell on You, Pastel Blues, Let It All Out, Wild Is the Wind and the classics Nina Simone in Concert and High Priestess of Soul -and packages them with a 56-page booklet containing rare photos and detailed liner notes to form a tremendous tribute to one of the great singers and personalities of our time.
