A turbo-charged roots ensemble for the 21st century, Moulettes' debut mini album for Balling The Jack also features folk-blueser Liz Green on one of the accompanying tracks. Of all the new folk bands Moulettes are one of the freshest and most original, featuring a frontline of cello, bassoon and violin backed by a variety of percussion, frenetic jazzy guitar, autoharp and kazoo.
Still in their early twenties, they've been playing together for over five years. Relentless giggers and buskers in the UK and across the continent, they've played Bestival, Glastonbury and Secret Garden Party in recent years, and in summer 2010 they'll be playing Beach Break Live, Big Session, Larmer Tree and Lounge On The Farm, with several others tobe announced. They've shared stages and personnel with Mystery Jets, Noisettes, Ting Tings (Moulettes were also three quarters of electro-pop outfit Modernaire) and Mumford & Sons.
