Fun With Swarms

That image above is a screenshot from Fun With Swarms.  If you want to see video, look here.  Fun With Swarms isn't a game, but more of a digital/software toy or tech demo.

Fun With Swarms was added as one of the bonuses to IndieRoyale's New Year's Bundle (which ends tomorrow).  So what's the goal of Fun With Swarms?  There is none.  But it can still be interesting to mess around with, and it can be especially entertaining for young kids.  My 5-year-old daughter has spent over an hour playing with it, and even 2-year-olds can just flail away at the mouse and be happy to see something pretty happening.

Is there a potential for a game, or mini-game in there?  Probably, and Fireball is entirely about dodging swarms.  But Fireball is a hardcore arcade game.

A couple things you can try with FWS: Set the swarm type to Hybrid and try to get as close to them as possible without being touched.  It ends up making a wave that chases you.  Or set the type to Column and get along the center line to break the swarm into two (hold LMB), then slowly move up and down without letting any swarmers switch sides.  I'm definitely open to ideas for how turn this into Fireball-like game, so email me if you have any thoughts on the issue.
