The series focuses on a subculture of car mechanics in Appalachia that create mind blowing vehicles that could be from another place and time. The mechanics use old abandoned car bodies and meld them with parts from anything and everything to make a rat rod. 

After World War 2, the rat rod movement started when people salvaged prewar cars to make them street ready. The cars are far from flashy. The first rumble is being held in North Carolina at an undisclosed location and the mechanics have only three weeks to build an Outlaw themed rat rod.
