“Recorded January 5, 1978 at the Great Southeast Music Hall, Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia USA, their first US concert. The Great Southeast Music Hall was ran by Alex Cooley. A local band called Cruisomatic opened for the Sex Pistols this night but their set either wasn't recorded or didn't survive. Among those in attendance are 5 television crews, approximately 50 members of the press (including such notables as John Rockwell, Bob Christgau, Wayne Robins, Kit Rachlis, Tony Schwartz and Roger Wolmuth), several police officers and vice squads from both Atlanta and Memphis.
According to Clinton Heylin's book Never Mind The Bollocks, this recording is allegedly from a radio broadcast of the show. The sound is more than acceptable. It was bootlegged shortly after the show as a vinyl LP and this CD edition is taken from the same source tape used for that early issue, it is not mastered from vinyl however and it contains the same sonic flaws present in the vinyl edition. Today, the Great Southeast Music Hall (at the corner of Piedmont and Sidney Marcus roads) is no longer standing; it's been bulldozed and a Home Depot store was built on the grounds where it once stood.”
