Frankie Ford - New Orleans Dynamo - 1984
Recorded in 1984 in London, this is a surprisingly decent effort that emulates the sound of New Orleans R&B-rock circa 1960 with reasonable accuracy. Ford's voice sounds pretty much unchanged as he goes through a set heavy on remakes of old New Orleans tunes, like "A Certain Girl," "Sick and Tired," Huey Smith's "Don't You Know Yockomo," "Lipstick Traces (On a Cigarette)," and "Bony Moronie." The album is now available as part of Ace's CD reissue Cruisin' with Frankie Ford, which also includes 14 songs done by the singer for Imperial from 1960-62.
