Post Description
Here are two near-masterpieces and a piece of pleasant froth. Both Hummel and Reicha had close connections with greatness; Hummel was Mozart's favorite pupil, while Reicha played with Beethoven in Bonn and later in Vienna. Their compositions are far better music than their relative obscurity would suggest. If Weber's piece is fluff by comparison, at least it's entertaining fluff. These period instrument performances are really superb, and there's 78 minutes of music on the disc.
