Feng Shui is the practice of living in harmony with one's environment. It translates from Mandarin as "wind water." In ancient teachings, Feng Shui emphasized the connection between the wind and the water where all spiritual forces were said to converge. Today, Feng Shui is practiced in the home or work place, where the proper placement of furniture and other items allows people to better experience the cosmic energy called chi. This 14-track CD illuminates the ying and yang of Feng Shui. For example, "Placement for Purpose" contains powerful, strident rhythms that capture the strength of the chi. "The Five Elements" concentrates on the link between humans and wood, fire, earth, metal, and water through cyclical themes; each theme represents one of nature's sacred elements. Like the I Ching symbol from which the title is derived, "Center of the Pa Kua" embodies the ever-shifting forces of the universe through cryptic keyboard and guitar textures, and throbbing tom-tom beats. This colorful CD ambitiously attempts to represent the spirit of Feng Shui through sound itself.
