Documentary following mountaineers Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler, who made history in 1978 by becoming the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest without the use of additional oxygen. 

The pair faced a number of possible dangers as they reached what is known as the death zone 8,000 metres above sea level including sickness, headaches and the risk of life threatening oedemas.
