Post Description
Tired of society, Manuel De Ribera travels to his inheritance: an uninhabited island in southern Chile. There he wants to establish the society he dreams of, with his own rules and himself as absolute ruler.
At the age of 48, Manuel De Ribera gets an unusual inheritance: an uninhabited island in southern Chile, situated facing a small fishing bay. De Ribera is alienated from his friends and family; he's a jack of all trades and master of none and he grabs this opportunity to wrestle himself free from a society in which he just can't take root. He wants to create a spot on the island where he can determine and maintain his own rules and values.
On his way to his personal paradise, De Ribera comes into contact with two other inhabitants of the fringes of society: the young yet determined fisherman Rodrigo - who has nothing to lose thanks to the dishonest competition of industrial fisheries - and the down-at-heel, literally and metaphorically cheap prostitute Inés, who yearns for a laugh and respect. Manuel De Ribera is the directing debut of Christopher Murray and Pablo Carrera, who are both 25 .
