Post Description
The seventh season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent premiered October 4, 2007 and the season ended August 24, 2008.
D'Onofrio, Erbe, and Noth returned with the addition of Alicia Witt while Julianne Nicholson was on maternity leave. This season was the first one to air on USA Network with original episodes. Nicholson returned in the episode "Contract", which aired on June 15, 2008 (with In Plain Sight's Mary McCormack guest starring).
The theme music changed to that of the now defunct Law & Order: Trial by Jury. Original episodes of season seven aired on USA Network until August 2008, with reruns on NBC beginning in January 2008. Production of the seventh season was interrupted by the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike when Executive Producer Warren Leight and the rest of the writing staff participated in the work stoppage. Only 10 of the 22 episodes ordered were produced pre-strike, with the remaining 12 episodes which aired June 8, 2008.
In the episode "Purgatory", actor Dean Winters who portrayed Detective Brian Cassidy during the first season (1999-2000) of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit guest stars as a part of a duo of dirty cops. Det. Robert Goren is the other partner of this duo as he goes undercover to take down a high-level drug-dealer in order to prove himself while he is under suspension pending a psychiatric evaluation.
In the episode "Reunion", actor Noel Fisher guest stars as Milo Rhodes-Black; the son of a murdered talk-show host. He played CSU Tech Dale Stuckey during the tenth season (2008-2009) of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Chris Noth left the series at the end of the season. Weeks before the season ended, it was mentioned Jeff Goldblum was set to replace him.
