Post Description

The Funk Brothers was the nickname of Detroit, Michigan, session musicians who performed the backing to most Motown Records recordings from 1959 until the company moved to Los Angeles in 1972. They were the anonymous band behind a majority of the biggest Motown songs ever recorded, including the Supremes’ “You Can"t Hurry Love,” The Four Tops’ “Reach Out” and countless other timeless classics by artists such as Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and many more. A Night Out With... The Funk Brothers was recorded on Independence Day 2004 as the group headlined an unforgettable event at the 25th annual Montreal International Jazz Festival.
