Previously, weight loss surgery was the last chance for the severely obese, but in the last ten years there has been a 3,000% increase in the number of Brits going under the knife.

We meet 38 year old David, who lost over 24 stone over two years following a gastric bypass operation. Having piled on weight following the break-up of his marriage and the death of his mother, David saw the surgery as the first step towards a new life. His initial joy as the pounds fell away turned to panic as his skin failed to tighten, eventually leaving him with over five stone of excess skin.

David now spends his days searching for a surgeon who might be willing to take on his case, but it proves difficult as he is considered a high riskpatient. With his girlfriend by his side and dreams of a family at some point, will David ever achieve the happy ever after that he is hoping for?
