Description
Armored forces played a critical role in the German invasion of France in the spring of 1940. The attack of German panzer divisions through what the French believed to be the impenetrable Ardennes forest effectively outflanked British and French forces in France and Belgium. The Allies were forced to retreat in disarray toward the channel ports, which led to the collapse of French resistance. In this program we look at the role of armored forces on both sides in the dramatic battles that led to the stunning German victory. Features rare archive footage, stunning 3-D animation, and a detailed examination of the machines by David Fletcher of the Royal Armored Corps Tank Museum at Bovington as well as writer and historian Bob Carruthers.
