Parthenope is een sirene noch een mythe. Op uitgebreide wijze ervaart ze passie en de liefde, hoe zinloos of onmogelijk deze ook mogen zijn. Ook vreugde en lijden duiken op in haar leven net als meerdere vaderfiguren, zowel verzonnen als echt. Sommige eindes markeren een nieuw begin.
